The first meeting of project team members of all schools participating in the Erasmus + project “Playing with Maths” was held from November 10 to 13 in the Turkish city of Aydın. The aim of the meeting was to meet the partners, agree on the terms of student mobility, create a project logo, select topics, define a thematic week and the like. Apart from the representatives of our school, the meeting was attended by representatives of all partner schools from France (Clermont-Ferrand), Croatia (Valpovo), Greece (Xanthi), Portugal (Madeira) and TED host Ege Koleji from the Turkish city of Aydın. The first mobility involving 5 students and 2 teachers is scheduled from March 29 to April 4, 2020 for a Greek city near the Thracian Sea called Xanthi. Croatian school will host an international meeting of students and teachers from 11 to 17 October 2020. This is followed by mobility to the island of Madeira and the final meeting in France in 2021.

In addition to the formal part of the program, all participants had organized events and excursions in which the hosts tried to show the local culture and customs. After an introductory presentation with Turkish music, TED Director Ege Kolejija introduced the students and staff of the school and took all participants through a truly impressive complex of preschool, primary and secondary education. On the second day, all participants visited the famous ancient city of Ephesus, which is on the list of one of the seven ancient wonders of the world. In addition to the excursion, local food was served every day and all participants were able to learn how to prepare and taste Turkish food. In addition to a visit to Ephesus, a visit was organized to the Turkish village (former Greek village) of Sirince near Izmir. At the end of the day, the participants visited the city of Kusadasi, which is located on the shores of the Aegean Sea and is a famous tourist center. There, some of the participants were hosted by the mayor of this large city (about 100,000 inhabitants) and presented some general information and ideas. Many participants compared the education systems in individual countries and exchanged ideas on how to improve them. After the mobility, our school will design an Erasmus + corner, select students who will participate in the project and mobility, and perform other tasks agreed at the meeting. We are looking forward to the next meeting in Greece, especially because then there will be students among the participants.
