The Erasmus + project “Playing with Maths” ended with the last mobility, hosted in May in Croatia. The host of meeting was the elementary school of Matija Petar Katančić Valpovo from the town of Valpovo.
From 16th to 21th May in school in Valpovo partners from France, Greece, Turkey and Portugal were hosted. The opening was on Monday in the chapel. Croatian partners welcomed with a varied music and cultural program and a lauded lunch at the school. Teachers and students from eleven to sixteen had the opportunity to get to know Valpovo city, school, Slavonia, Baranja and Zagreb.
Walking through Valpovo and Osijek, the guests admired the greenery and peaceful life, visiting Baranja and Kopački rit were amazed by the biological diversity and embarked on an adventure of tasting traditional cuisine. The visit to Zagreb and the Science Park entertained and taught all students, guests and hosts, and reminded teachers how fun learning can be.
The last days were reserved for touring the Đakovo stud farm, Vukovar and the Danube by boat, as well as for the gala dinner and the award ceremony. Part of the project activities were excellent and praised math workshops held in the school yard and park prepared by Mathematics teachers. All students participated in all activities as equal members of the Erasmus team and proved to be excellent collaborators and hospitable hosts.
Other students had the opportunity to make acquaintances, perhaps friendships, with children from different countries and cultures and to improve communication skills in foreign languages.
The happy faces visible in all the photos and the sadness about the parting that we did not record are enough of a sign that the project has been successfully completed.
According to Igor Zdenčanović, coordinator of the Erasamus + project in Valpovo, the partners praised the hospitality, friendliness and teamwork of the M. P. Katančić Elementary School, and he pointed out that the students of our school showed that they are responsible, hardworking and cultural.
